He Forgave Those Who Threw Gasoline in His Eyes

I want to boast about a man I know named Milan, who is a dear, older man in my church. Some beggars here in Hungary threw gasoline in his eyes, and for months he was blind and in pain. His eyes were constantly leaking.

When I pray for people to be healed, I sometimes ask them if they have anyone they need to forgive, because sometimes healing is hindered by unforgiveness. When I asked him if he was able to forgive the people who did this to him, he affirmed that emphatically without hesitation. We prayed for him to be healed and the pain is now gone, but his vision is still cloudy. He is still trusting God for total healing, and so are we.

I admire him for his ability to trust the Lord and forgive his enemies in the face of such tragedy. Jesus taught us, "For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions." (Mat 6:14-15).
